Measuring for decals is not difficult. When
we refer to overall area, it refers to the imaginary unobstructed rectangular area that
creates the maximum length and maximum width that the decals will fit into. This helps us
to try to fill up the area when we design the layout. You should also note the location
(with measurement from top and left side) of obstructions (i.e. door handles, key holes,
mirrors, etc)
If you are measuring for hood protectors or windshield
lettering, it will help to know the negative arc (smile) of the object. This is the
vertical difference between the sides and the middle. How much does it drop (measured in
inches).
